How to get auto insurance from a state that your college is in rather than your resident state?

I live in New Jersey where the auto insurance is relatively expensive. However, I go to college in South Carolina where the auto insurance is a lot cheaper than in New Jersey. How can I get the cheaper South Carolina auto insurance? Do I need a South Carolina driver?s license to do this? Should I buy a car from a South Carolina dealership?

br>

You can?t legally?you have to register and insure the car in your state of legal residence, in this case NJ. However, call your agent and check into a ?college? rate?many companies give a discount if you?re at school over a certain distance from home. That may help.

Venture Capital for Africa | Blog | Trust: A Key to Business and ...

The ?Art of Making Business Happen? aired a segment on trust as an active ingredient to one?s success in business. While its role is often taken for granted, there is a very strong relationship between trust and revenue. Anna Bernasek, economic writer and author of ?Economics of Integrity,? joined the show and talked about her insights on how to leverage trust to grow and sustain a business.

Anna says trust and integrity translate to wealth through relationships. The relationship between a company and client starts with a single transaction. The company provides something of value to a client, which engenders trust. As the customer continues to return, the benefit of each single transaction is multiplied for the company in revenue and future growth. Toyota became a symbol of integrity and gained customers because of it.

When an organization, or even an economy, stops delivering on its promise (integrity), people lose trust and wealth is depleted. Part of the reason that the U.S. economy may not be bouncing back quickly is because there is a lack of business and consumer confidence. After all, a recession is basically a ?set back? of trust. In Toyota?s case, it will be interesting to see if they will regain and move beyond what was lost recently.

Mideast Quartet meets hoping to avoid looming crisis (AFP)

WASHINGTON (AFP) ? Envoys from the Middle East diplomatic Quartet meet in Washington Monday to urge Israelis and the Palestinians to resume peace talks in hopes of avoiding a major confrontation at the United Nations in September.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov are scheduled to meet for a dinner at 7 pm (2300 GMT) at the State Department. Quartet envoy Tony Blair, the former British prime minister, will also participate.

Ahead of the meal, Clinton and Ashton are set to hold a press conference scheduled for 3:35 pm (1935 GMT).

Quartet members unanimously support the position taken by US President Barack Obama, who in May urged the two parties to base the borders of their countries on the 1967 borders with mutually-agreed swaps.

"I took the initiative to propose a Quartet meeting in July as the best way to achieve progress," Ashton said in a statement released ahead of the meeting.

Ashton noted "the changes in the surrounding neighborhood" -- a reference to the Arab Spring -- moves towards reconciliation among rival Palestinian groups, Obama's speech in May, and the upcoming UN General Assembly meeting as bringing "a renewed focus on the possibility of talks and a negotiated solution."

When the United Nations General Assembly meets in September, the Palestinians are planning to seek recognition of their state within the 1967 lines that preceded the Six-Day War, despite the opposition of both Israel and the United States.

Peace talks ground to a halt in September 2010 when Israel failed to renew a partial freeze on settlement construction in the occupied West Bank.

Since then, the Palestinians have refused to return to talks as long as Israel builds on land they want for a future state.

"I do not underestimate the challenge," Ashton said, adding that her goal is to adopt a statement "that will help the Israelis and Palestinians make progress and allow for a return to the negotiating table."

The bar is set low in terms of objectives, which explains why the United States hesitated before agreeing to hold the meeting, arguing the conditions for success were simply not there. But a complete lack of diplomatic activity also seemed impossible.

Some European countries like France have indicated they might recognize an independent Palestinian state if peace talks are not back on track by September.

But others, including Germany and the Netherlands, are opposed to any unilateral steps.

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas has vowed to pursue the unilateral bid for recognition barring any prospects of a renewal of negotiations with Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the 1967 borders "indefensible," insisting there would not be a peace agreement without the Palestinians first recognizing Israel as the "Jewish state" and thus as the homeland of the Jewish people alone.

Israel also wants to keep sovereignty over east Jerusalem, annexed after its occupation, as well as large swaths of settlements in the West Bank and a long-term military presence in the Palestinian section of the Jordan Valley.

All of these demands have been rejected by the Palestinians, who are also demanding a freeze on settlement building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

On Sunday, Palestinian official Hanan Ashrawi urged the Quartet to "undertake its responsibilities seriously."

Ashrawi, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, called on the group to commit to clear guidelines and a timeframe for any new talks, and to "effectively bring Israel to compliance, including a cessation of all settlement activities."

The Palestinians have accused Washington of failing to insist on a new moratorium and weakening the Quartet's position on settlement construction, which much of the international community regards as illegal.

"The Quartet must exhibit the political will to translate words into action. Until this happens there will be no change to the current status quo," Ashrawi said.

Separately, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt urged the Quartet in a Twitter message that "clear language on principles for peace settlement necessary."

TheWriteGame: Monday Miscellany-Writing Young Adult Fiction for ...

I'm departing from my usual Monday Miscellany and posting a review. The reason is that I want to share this book with my readers who might still have questions about this business called Writing Young Adult Fiction. I sure have some and I'm very pleased that Deborah Halverson happened along with some answers.

First, I have to make one disclaimer. I adore Books for Dummies, and I?ve used several; however, when I heard about Writing Young Adult Fiction for Dummies I was very skeptical that the Dummies format would be an effective tool for helping writers through their creative process and into print. That skepticism vanished after I had the book in my hands for a few minutes.

In the Introduction, she invites readers to jump around, skim, scan or pause to absorb on their own terms, and the Dummies format turned out to be brilliant for encouraging this highly individualized use of her book. It?s easy to spot the Bulls-eye icon that signals important time-saving Tips, or to pause at the String on a Finger because this icon means ?Remember this. It?s important.? The Time-Bomb alerts readers to problems, things to avoid. The Nerdy Guy icon signals that the reader can skip this for the moment and return later for a more detailed examination of a point. The Exercise icon tells the reader to stop for a moment and try out what has just been presented.

Halverson has what it takes to help the aspiring author with a ?behind the scenes? look at the world of young adult fiction. First, she had a ten year stint as editor at Harcourt Children?s Books, then she became an award-winning author of two young adult novels, Honk If You Hate Me and Big Mouth. Besides these excellent credentials, she?s the founder of the website, DearEditor.com, regularly speaks at conferences and teaches writing. ?

In Writing Young Adult Fiction for Dummies, she offers up her years of experience in clear, digestible chapters. She provides examples and exercises that allow the reader different ways to access, understand and assimilate what she has presented. Added bonuses are the thirteen topnotch, award winning writers and agents who expand on the chapters with targeted tips and models. Mary E. Pearson gives ten tips to beat writer?s block. Agent Erin Murphy explains how to make those ?quiet books loud? and salable, and Darcy Pattison discusses the book trailer?s importance as part of a promotion campaign.

Chapter 1 starts with getting ?The Lowdown on YA Fiction.? In this chapter she gives a clear understanding of what is meant by young adult fiction, a term she uses as an umbrella for two categories: books written for teens from 12 to 17 and those written for kids 9 through 14. I found myself drawing hearts next to sentences like, ?Above all, young adult fiction is not watered-down adult fare.? I drew a double heart next to, ?Let? [the knowledge in this book] free you up to explore and experiment with your own fiction, finding the right way to tell your story.?

Her book ends at the author?s ultimate goal, selling and promoting her published book with ?Ten Ways to Make the Most of a Conference.? I wish I?d had this step-by-step help before I attended my first conference. I would have gone with my list of tangible, achievable goals; I would have known about the faculty and made comments on those business cards I collected; I would have come away with and retained so much more than I did.?

The chapters between the beginning and the end are meaty without being dense. They pinpoint the essentials, and they carry the reader through the most important phases of this creative process, but they also make the business and professional aspect of writing apparent, important and clear.?

I really appreciated her chapter titled ?Writing the Almighty Hook.?? Authors are always being told to write a ?hook? in their queries as well as in the opening lines of those books that are under construction, and that?s great advice, but so often I?ve seen the question, ?How do I do that?? Well, Ms. Halverson shows the steps. In this chapter there are models of great hooks, wonderful tips for keeping that hook right there as a guide from beginning to end of the writing process, and then there are distinct steps that lead into practicing and perfecting those first lines.

In ?Strategizing and Packaging Your Submission,? she demystifies so many aspects of this part of the process: Targeting your submission, writing that dynamite query letter, the synopsis, putting all of your submission into a neat and interesting package, and turning those rejection letters into learning moments.?

Overall, I?d have to give Writing Young adult Fiction For Dummies a Five Star Rating. I feel it fills a need in the ?How To? market. I?m really pleased that I happened to be in the right place at the right time to review this book and pass along what I gleaned from its pages.?
