We have made a mess of our financial past. we are new Christians, and have overheard some that are against filing bankruptcy. They say it's not biblical to disregard your debts. the people investigating our home loan suggested us to speak to a lawyer. He has advised us that bankruptcy would be in our best interest.
Unless it truly is a last resort, like your debt not including your mortgage is $120K and you only make $60K per year, you should try to get those debts paid rather than declare bankruptcy. Sometimes it is the best solution, but a lot of times people do it because they don't want to go through the work of paying it off.
i am a christian as well but you shouldn't worry about what other people think it's not there situation you are just labeling yourself if you follow other people when you should follow God you have your own belifes so do what you feel is right and pray about it first Gods answer is more important then others thoughts on whether or not you should do this. and if some one says to you it is unbiblicle you tell them to show you exactly where it says "thou shall not file bankruptcy" good luck i hope i helped.
i know many other sold out christians who have been forced to file for bankruptcy protection. it is something very personal and i would not talk about to anyone else. after all, they are not walking in your shoes. it is too easy to judge others when ask, so i would not ask anyone else. do what you have to do to protect your family.
The Bible doesn't every say anything about whether to file bankruptcy or not, so it's not non-biblical. I've been a Christian all my life, and I've never heard that before. I think you should do what the professionals suggested.
If bankruptcy is the best thing for you, file bankruptcy.
